MENA postpones meeting of journalists in press institutions to next Sunday
Cairo - MENA

MENA decided to postpone holding the meeting of journalists in state-owned and private press institutions, which was scheduled to be held on Tuesday.

The meeting, to be held on Sunday, May 22, was postponed due to the busy schedule of several journalists and editors-in-chief.

Earlier, MENA Board Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Alaa Heidar invited journalists in state-owned and private press institutions to attend a meeting Tuesday at MENA's premises to discuss ways to overcome the crisis between the Journalists' Syndicate and the Interior Ministry.

Heidar affirmed that the meeting aims to get viewpoints closer among all journalists.

Heidar, meanwhile, said that the meeting is scheduled to discuss ways of improving services offered by the syndicate, especially to the young journalists.

On May 1, two wanted journalists were arrested by the police at the syndicate's premises in downtown Cairo.

Police said that they acted on an arrest warrant issued for two journalists, Amr Badr and Mahmoud Al Saqqa, who are accused of inciting unauthorized anti-government protests.
