The 8th Fujairah Media Forum will commence on 24th October 2017, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, and will be organised by the Fujairah Culture and Media Authority.

The forum will see the participation of many journalists and scholars from 20 Arab and international countries, to discuss the topics of the media and social media.

Its first session will address the compatibility between the media and social media platforms, which will be moderated by Hassan Yacoub, Director of Sharjah Radio, with the participation of Mohammed Jalal Al Raisi, Executive Director of the Emirates News Agency, WAM, Othman Al Umair, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Elaf e-Newspaper, from Saudi Arabia, Dr. Rasheed Al Khayoun, Heritage Writer and Intellectual, and Madi Khamis, President of the Kuwait Media Forum.

The second session will address the impact of social media on its users and the role of the media, which will be moderated by Ali Obaid Al Hamli, News Centre Director at Dubai Media Incorporated, from the UAE. The session will also highlight the views of certain journalists, most notably the poet and journalist Dr. Barwin Habib from Bahrain, Odwan Al Ahmari from Saudi Arabia, and Khairy Ramadan from Egypt, as well as Dr. Hadeel Kamel, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Iraqi Media Network.

The third session, to be moderated by Ahmed Al Arfaj from Saudi Arabia, will address the advantages and disadvantages of social media, with the participation of writer and journalist Yusuf Hamdan from Bahrain, Mohammed Al Tunisi, Editor-in-Chief of Al Ru'ya, from Saudi Arabia, and writer Dr. Ali Hassan Fawaz from Iraq.

The second day of the forum will involve two sessions. The first session, titled, "The Media Between Globalisation and Identity Awareness," will be moderated by Moataz Qateena from Jordan, with the participation of the writer and journalist, Dr. Abdul Hamid Al Saeh, Director of Al Baghdadiya, from Iraq, and the scholar, Dr. Ikhlas Al Teny from Sudan, as well as the writer, Dr. Abdulhaleem Al Madani, from Iraq and Mustafa Al Zarooni, Editor of the Gulf Times.

The second and final session of the Forum will discuss the future of the media and the challenges facing social media, which will be moderated by writer and journalist Ansaf Yehiawi from Tunisia, with the participation of Hatim Al Tai, Editor-in-chief of Omani Vision, Al Saad Al Menhali, Editor of National Geographic Al Arabiya, from the UAE, Manal Al Duftar, President of DMC, from Egypt, and Mohammad Huraisi, News Officer at the AFP.
