Hanoi - XINHUA

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) will grant more supports to Vietnam in the fields of climate change and biodiversity preservation in the coming times along with other projects. The pledge was made by Louise Chamberlain, UNDP country director, at the annual meeting with Vietnam's Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) in its capital Hanoi on Tuesday to review and boost cooperation. All projects between Vietnam and UNDP are on track with remarkable achievements in recent years, including projects on Agent Orange/Dioxin and capacity building for climate change adaptation, said Chamberlain. Tran Hong Ha, deputy minister of MONRE said that the ministry highly supports UNDP's programs, and the two sides need to build a master plan in implementing projects to avoid overlapping. In particular, according to a resolution on actively responding to climate change, strengthening resources management and environmental protection, Vietnam will follow the model of green economy, said Ha. The official thus proposed UNDP to continue to support the implementation of projects in the field and help Vietnam building indicator sets to measure the development of the country towards green economy in the near future.
