Abu Dhabi - Arabstoday

The sun played hide and seek in across the country, as strong winds kicked up dust and reduced visibility on Thursday. The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology advised residents and fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea until tomorrow as strong winds would turn the sea rough. There are chances of scattered rains due to the unstable weather which originated in Saudi Arabia. The weather will become normal from tomorrow night, the NCMS forecast. The northwesterly winds was blowing at 25-40km per hour on Thursday over the land and 50km per hour over the sea.The motorists are urged to exercise caution and drive slow due to the expected low visibility on the roads due to the sand and dust. The NCMS predicted that the sky is expected to be partly cloudy today with a chance of light rainfall over the northern regions of the country in the morning. The moderate to fresh north-westerly winds will kick up dust and sand over some internal areas and reduce the horizontal visibility. Wind will be blowing over the sea at higher speed and turn it very rough with wave height reaching up to eight to 12 feet offshore and three to five feet onshore, the centre said. The centre also forecast that a gradual decrease in wind speed by the afternoon tomorrow but the sea will remain rough and is expected to normalise by the evening. The motorists are advised to take precautions while driving tomorrow morning as there are chances of fog, while no fog formation warning has been sounded for today morning.
