Last month was the hottest May in Bahrain for more than a hundred years, which included seven days in which temperatures exceeded 40C, breaking the record of the average temperature in May. "May, 2012 goes on record as the hottest May ever experienced in Bahrain since 1902," Bahrian's Civil Aviation Affairs Meteorological Directorate said in a statement, cited by the (Trade Arabia) news service. The average temperature was 32.8C beating the old record set in May 2011 of 32.2C. May also recorded an average maximum daytime temperature of 37.9C, which was 0.6C more than May 2007's record of 37.3C. The hottest day of the month was May 4, with a record temperature of 43.7C due to warm southerly winds. May's lowest average humidity also broke records at 58 per cent, which was 3 per cent lower than 61 per cent in May 2007, while the relative humidity for May was 39 per cent - the lowest since May 2009 and 2011 at 42 per cent.
