Hargeisa - WAM

In implementation of the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has launched a project for the extraction of water and construction of the longest pipeline to deliver water to the population in the Hargeisa region of Somalia.
An official source at the Khalifa Foundation said that the project aims to alleviate the suffering of the UAE's Somali brothers and to improve humanitarian conditions. The project began with digging 13 wells to extract water and building giant reservoirs to collect it.
In a statement to Emirates News Agency, WAM, the source said that the length of the pipeline which will carry the extracted water from wells is 52 kilometers, with a capacity of more than one million gallons per day, to serve 250,000 thousand people in the city of Hargeisa.
