Turkey has major energy projects to develop in Iraq

Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz has said, not opening of energy chapter with the EU was more than just Turkey's problem now. "This is European Union's problem. We do our best," said Yildiz while delivering a speech at the "Towards a New Global Energy Landscape: What Role for Turkey?" titled Annual Energy Forum of Sabanci University's Istanbul International Energy and Climate Center (IICEC) on Friday. Minister Yildiz noted, in regards to the energy outlook of the world, they made three fundamental changes in the last decade. Yildiz added, Turkey's relations were developed with its neighbours in the energy field and said, "Turkey will also continue its facilities in Venezuela, Colombia, like in third countries. It is out of question for Turkey to sit idly by Iraq while it has facilities in such far away countries. Turkey took a 25 billion USD worth of project in south of Iraq. This did not come up on the agenda a lot. Likewise Iraq's south, its north is an area to work on a project. Each of these are projects to develop for the normalization of Iraq."
