Tunis - ANSA
The Tunisian state, through the energy company STEG, is to invest 2 billion euros over a period of 5 years, the country's Minister for Industry,Mohamed Lamine Chakhari, has announced during a meeting of African electrical energy producers and distributors in Hammamet. "The renewable energy sector will consolidate the country's capabilities in the production of electrical photovoltaic energy," Chakhari said. STEG, which is in charge of the distribution of electrical energy and gas, is currently going through a difficult period, and has been forced to resort to state aid to settle its debts, which reached 850 million euros in 2011.
