President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met on Monday with Petroleum Minister Sherif Ismail and Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker to discuss the state's plans and measures to fulfill people's needs of electricity and natural gas.

President Sisi stressed the importance of the optimization of benefiting from the available resources and capabilities in the field of electricity and natural gas, presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef said.

The president called for continuing the maintenance works at the electricity generation plants to increase the production and carrying out the new contracts to buy fuel to operate the plants and build new plants as soon as possible.

The meeting also tackled means of rationalizing the consumption of power through decreasing the rate of waste and depending on the power-saving bulbs and air-conditioners.

For his part, the electricity minister said the power production volume is achieving surplus although a number of power stations in the urgent plan have not been finalized.

The petroleum minister referred to his ministry's efforts to meet the country's needs of petroleum and natural gas.

He reviewed the new discoveries and projects that are being implemented in all fields.
