Riyadh - SPA

In its 63rd ordinary session presided over by its Speaker Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Shiekh, Majlis Al-Shura called today for using solar energy to produce a specific percentage of the annual demand on electric power. During a debate on a report of the Ministry of Water and Electricity for the fiscal year 1431/1432 H., the Consultative Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia underscored the importance of dual production of electricity and desalination of water if the two projects were to be placed on sea coasts or their vicinities, or where there are artisan salt water with abundant quantities with the exception of where it was proved economically infeasible to have dual production or where there is no demand for water or electricity. The Shura Council also stressed the necessity of enhancing local power grids among all regions of the country. The meeting approved with majority the agreement draft between the Government of the Kingdom and the Government of the Republic of Turkey on mutual cooperation and assistance on customs issues signed in Istanbul on 14/6/1433 H. It also approved with majority a proposal to create translation jobs in a number of languages at King Abdulaziz Center for Archives and Information as well as computer jobs. After having reviewed a report on the performance of the Court of Grievances, Majlis Al-Shura said the number of suits being filed before the Court were on the increase, citing 63502 cases in 1431 H., an increase of 4464 compared with 1430 H. where only 60% of them were judged. The Shura members demanded the recruitment of enough judges and administrative cadre to finalize the accumulating suits.
