General Electric
Cairo - MENA

General Electric (GE) has been able to add during the past 7 months 1.84 gigawatts of electricity to Egypt's national grid out of a planned 2.6 gigawatts, the company announced Tuesday.

This is part of Cairo's program to boost power generation, according to a company statement.

The American multinational was scheduled to complete a project that would add the 2.6 gigawatts to the grid in May, according to the initial announcement of the deal, but will probably reach that number by August.

"This is one of the fastest power projects ever delivered by GE worldwide, which is a testament to our continuous efforts to work with and support Egypt’s government and our customers.” Steve Bolze, President and CEO of GE Power & Water, said in the statement.
