Exporting renewable energies from the Maghreb to Europe is a long-term objective, said Friday in Tunis CEO of the national electricity and gas company SONELGAZ Noureddine Bouterfa. In a statement to APS on the sidelines of a seminar on the promotion of renewable energies, Bouterfa, who chairs the Maghreb Committee of Electricity (COMELEC), underlined that "Desertec Industrial Initiative" group expressed four years ago its ambitions to promote an energy future where renewable energies would e very important. The CEO of SONELGAZ called for concluding agreements with transit countries like Spain and Italy, adding that "the export of renewable energies from the Maghreb to Europe is a long-term objective."
