Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab
Cairo - MENA

Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab opened Wednesday a 1,300-megawatt plant in Ain Sokhna in the presence of Electricity and Energy Minister Mohamed Shaker.

Investment Minister Ashraf Salman, Technical Education Minister Mohamed Youssef and Suez Governor El Araby el Seroy and a host of electricity ministry leaderships also attended the opening ceremony.

During the opening of the power plant, the electricity minister said that Ain Sokhna power plant is one of the government's 2012-2017 five-year plan to meet all electricity needs.

The Ain Sokhna power station includes two thermal units, at a capacity of 650 MW each, added the minister.

The total investment cost of the project hits about 9.6 billion pounds, he noted.
