Egypt, IAEA sign deal to support nuclear security

Egypt's Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority (ENRRA) and International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Thursday night signed a deal to support nuclear security.
Egypt and the IAEA inked also a protocol of cooperation regarding requirements of operating the first phase to develop the systems of protection of Egyptian first and second research reactors.
"Egypt practices all its nuclear and radioactive activities in full transparency in cooperation with the IAEA and abides by standards of security and safety," Hassan Mahmoud, a senior at Ministry of Electricity, stressed.
He emphasized Egypt's support to the IAEA's pivotal role in this field to achieve development, security and safety to all peoples across the globe.
Concerning the protocol inked by Atef Abdel-Hamid represented Egypt and the IAEA representative, he said that by virtue of this protocol, the IAEA will support Egypt with all technical needs required for developing the systems of available protection for the two reactors.
He added that there has been a high-level technical cooperation between Egypt and the IAEA for many years in all domains that support peaceful use of atomic energy.
For his part, Dr. Khammar Mrabit, Director of Nuclear Security at IAEA, said that the IAEA helps member states build a sustainable national security systems.
