Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza met with CEOs and senior officials of banks in Bahrain.
The minister spoke about the setup of the Sustainable Energy Unit (SEU) as well as the support of the wise leadership in promoting clean energy.

He said the unit encourages investment in renewable energy and increasing the efficiency of, and rationalizing, energy consumption. He said the aim of the meeting was to encourage and share with the banking sector the efforts in achieving the objectives of the National Energy Efficiency Plan (NEEAP) and the National Renewable Energy Plan (NREAP), as well as to discuss aspects of joint and funding plans available for this purpose.

The visitors were briefed about the unit and the goals of the National Energy Efficiency Plan, the National Renewable Energy Plan, initiatives in general and those related to the banking sector in particular.

The bankers expressed their readiness to support the national energy plans and the work of the National Committee in addition to their readiness to support the efforts and objectives of the Sustainable Energy Unit.
The minister thanked the attendees for their constructive participation and suggestions and their valuable support.

The meeting was attended by the Resident Coordinator/Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (RC/RR of the UNDP), Amin Al-Sharqawi, and representatives from Eskan Bank, BBK, Standard Chartered, Bahrain Islamic Bank, Ahli United Bank, Al Baraka Islamic Bank, Kuwait Finance House, Gulf Finance House, HSBC and Khaleeji Commercial Bank.
