Washington - Upi

Tropical Storm Philippe, heading west out in the southern Atlantic Ocean, lost some power through the day Sunday, U.S. forecasters said. The National Hurricane Center in Miami said in its 11 p.m. EDT advisory that Philippe had maximum sustained winds of 50 mph, down from 60 mph Sunday morning. The storm was about 785 miles east-southeast of Bermuda, heading west at 12 mph, the forecasters said. Because it was so far out to sea, no coastal watches or warnings were in effect. Philippe was expected to gradually change to a west-southwestward heading through early Tuesday, then turn to the west-northwest and slow down and possibly lose some of its power by late Tuesday. The hurricane center said Philippe, which is being affected by strong upper-level winds, has tropical storm force winds extending outward up to 105 miles from its center.
