The three-day events are being organized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), a global non-profit organization, under patronage of Qatari Minister of Energy and Industry Dr. Mohammad bin Saleh Al-Sada.
In his inaugural speech, the minister said: "The conference helps provide valuable opportunities for experts and specialists in this area to engage in constructive dialogues on innovations and advanced solutions also help create a platform for the exchange of experiences." The minister explained that this year's conference embodies what is needed for the oil and gas industry to overcome the evolving global challenges relating to health, safety and the environment, including the technical challenges.
"The question remains how we can improve the performance of business and absorb technological progress, and be able, at the same time, to reduce risks associated with our industry and protect our workers and the communities as well as environment, Al-Sada added.
Throughout the three day 20 panel discussions will be held by experts in the industry to review some 60 papers and technical presentations.
