The current spike in temperature is expected to continue today with a forecast maximum of 49C and a minimum of 31C. Abu Samra is expected to see a high of 48C and Mesaieed 47C. Conditions will be slightly dusty with some clouds. The maximum temperature recorded yesterday in Doha was 48.6C. According to the Department of Meteorology, temperatures in recent days have been three to six degrees centigrade higher than the current averages. According to  data from the last 50 years, the highest temperature recorded in June was in 2010 at 49.1C. The  summer solstice is on Thursday, marking it the longest day of the year in the northern hemisphere.
