Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, has reinforced its participation in the Dubai Fitness Challenge, in the presence of Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, vice-presidents, senior vice-presidents, and large number of staff.

The initiative includes a comprehensive programme that motivates Dubai’s residents and visitors to boost their physical activity and commit to a minimum of 30 minutes of daily physical activities for 30 days from 20th October to 18th November, 2017.

DEWA has also allocated a portable gym in support of the initiative. It has organised several activities and events, which included walking every morning for half an hour from 7:30 to 8:00, gym classes for DEWA’s female employees, photography competition, table tennis competition, boxing, as well as kid’s play area which includes a space for conservation of water and electricity at Al Saada Park.

"We are honoured to be the exclusive partner of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, launched by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, for Dubai residents. This supports the Dubai Plan 2021 to make the city a home for healthy and educated people. We strive to be an integral part of the success story of this world-class initiative by providing the necessary needs for participants throughout the month. We reaffirm our commitment to promote the event and deliver its important message to the largest number of UAE nationals and residents," said Al Tayer.

"I thank H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, for launching this initiative that motivates positive competition and encourages all members of society to adopt a healthy lifestyle in an atmosphere full of fun and various interesting activities," he added.

Similarly, Nakheel Chairman Ali Rashid Lootah kicked off the company’s programme of events for Dubai Fitness Challenge by leading hundreds of employees on a 6km walk on Palm Jumeirah on Saturday morning.

Some 450 staff and their families turned out for the event, with the winner completing the walk in just over 36 minutes.

The challenge is inspiring the entire city to get fit, and Nakheel is proud to support the event with a host of activities across communities and retail destinations, Lootah said.

The walk covered two laps of Al Ittihad Park’s perimeter jogging track?
