The opening ceremony was attended by Turkish Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Yunus Demirer and German Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Dieter Walter Haller, in addition to a number of officials and diplomatic delegations.
The festival, which will continue till Nov. 17, aims to provide a unique experience by presenting high-end culinary creations that are inspired by history and the authenticity of Sultans Kitchen, where they invited Chef Serdar Ongel with his team, from Kempinski C?rgan Palace in Istanbul.
During the opening, the hotel’s GM Juan Uribe said: “The Ottoman Kitchen Festival is the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia and through it we provide this experience to the guests and food enthusiasts in Riyadh as an extension of our commitment to excellence.”
He added: “Presenting this festival in Tugra, our signature Ottoman restaurant, is to define the authenticity of the Ottoman cuisine by inviting the chefs from Cirgan Palace Kempinski Istanbul, to Riyadh’s first Ottoman cuisine, Tugra restaurant.”
The festival offers daily special Ottoman dinner menus at Tugra restaurant and Le Bijou cafe in the lobby, in addition to the weekend brunch.
Tugra restaurant is the recipient of the Middle Eastern Restaurant of the Year award by the 2016 Food and Travel GCC Tourism Awards. The restaurant reportedly earned this award among many elite restaurants spread across the GCC.
