Rome - Arabstoday

The prize-giving ceremony for the 11th Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix (GPHG) took place in the Grand Théâtre de Genève on Saturday November 19th 2011 in the presence of the President of the Swiss Confederation, Mrs Micheline Calmy-Rey, along with Genevan authorities and 1,500 personalities from the watchmaking world. The international jury of this 11th edition, composed of watch industry professionals, awarded the Men’s Watch Prize to the Arceau Le Temps Suspendu by Hermès. Luc Perramond, CEO of La Montre Hermès, was presented with this award by the actor Frédéric Diefenthal in a ceremony attended by the most influential figures in the sector from around the world who had gathered for the event. Speaking after the prize-giving ceremony, Luc Perramond said: “This prestigious prize reinforces our determination to pursue our commitment to creating products of exceptional beauty and quality, entirely in tune with the singular philosophy to watchmaking and time developed by Hermès. After being awarded the ‘Watch of the Year 2011’ prize barely one week ago for the same watch, we are particularly honoured by this dual recognition from watch industry professionals and I would like to dedicate these two awards to all our teams and partners who contributed to the creation and production of Le Temps Suspendu”. Created in 2001 and as of this year under the aegis of the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix Foundation, this event is intended to salute the excellence of worldwide horological production, and annually rewards the finest creations and the most important figures in the watchmaking world. It thereby contributes to promoting horology and its prime values, namely innovation, a will to pass on expertise and the quest for excellence.
