Shaza stars in ‘The Officer and the Executioner’

Singer Shaza takes part in the new TV series ‘The Officer and the Executioner’ produced by Sound of Cairo Audio Visual Company which is due for release during Ramadan.  Shaza plays ‘Mona’ a popular girl who lives in Sayeda Zeinab, a poor part of Cairo, typified  by small alleyways, one-way streets and crowded housing.  Her neighbours played by Tarek Lotfi and Mohamed Kareem are two brothers who are police officers. While kids, she played with them and when they grew up she fell in love with Maged played by Mohamed Kareem but when she discovers his bad qualities, she becomes closer to his brother Mahmoud, played by Tarek Lotfi, after she discovers he has a good heart and was kind to all the neighbours. The series weaves in a political dimension through the family of Haj Morshedy (Abdel Rahman Abu Zahra)  who is a good man known to everyone in the area whose police officer sons couldn't be more different. One is loved by everyone in the neighbourhood where he works, while the younger son is harsh and cruel when dealing with those he arrests and tries to prepare fake charges against them, and taking bribes.  From this contradiction, the series portrays  the role of the police officer in this society -- the difference  between being kind to the general public while being  tough in order to maintain security. The series is written by Magdy El Ebiary and directed by Hany Ismail and stars Abdel Rahman Abu Zahra, Fadia Abdel Ghani, Tarek Lotfi, Mohamed Kareem, Bothaina Rashwan, Shaza, Sobhi Khalil, Nabila Hassan, Sanaa Shafee, Rania Fath Allah, Amr El Ebiary, Ghassan Matar, Saiid Abdel Ghani, Hassan Mostafa and Ashraf Zaky.
