A local journalist in Mexico's troubled Sinaloa state who worked for Agence France-Presse was shot dead in the street Monday, a judicial source told AFP.
Javier Valdez, 50, was shot near the offices of Riodoce, one of the Mexican media he worked for, in the city of Culiacan in the northwestern state, the source said.
