US stocks open sharply lower after Fed keeps zero rate

Wall Street stocks opened sharply lower Friday, joining leading European bourses in retreating one day after the US Federal Reserve kept its benchmark interest rate at zero.
About three minutes into trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 1.17 percent, the S&P 500 0.96 percent and the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index 1.10 percent.
