US stocks end lower as morning rally fizzles

US stocks finished lower for the sixth straight session Tuesday after a morning rally fizzled.
At the closing bell, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 1.29 percent. The broad-based S&P 500 shed 1.34 percent, while the tech-rich Nasdaq Composite Index dropped 0.44 percent.
