Trump condemns extremist alt-right in interview

US President-elect Donald Trump on Tuesday disavowed the white nationalist "alt-right" movement that has cheered his election, saying he did not want to "energize" them.
"I condemn them. I disavow, and I condemn," Trump was quoted as saying in an interview with The New York Times, when pressed to comment on a conference at which his victory was celebrated with rousing Nazi salutes.
"I don't want to energize the group, and I disavow the group," Trump said.
