Bujumbura - Arab Today

Rival army factions in Burundi are holding talks after a top general launched a coup attempt against President Pierre Nkurunziza, a high-ranking loyalist told AFP.

"There are the negotiations between the two sides to find a solution that protects the national interests," said the senior officer, adding that the two sides had "agreed not to shed the blood of Burundians." Nkurunziza is in Tanzania.
