The exiled former leader of the Maldives Mohamed Nasheed said Thursday he would return to the troubled Indian Ocean nation to stand in the 2018 presidential elections. "We have decided that the MDP (Maldivian Democratic Party) will produce a candidate, I am hopeful to be that candidate," Nasheed told reporters in Colombo after talks with party leaders who are living in exile in the Sri Lankan capital. |
