EU launches legal action against Hungary over NGO crackdown

The EU launched fresh legal action against Hungary on Thursday over a crackdown on foreign-backed civil society groups that critics say targets US billionaire George Soros.
"Today, the European Commission decided to send a letter of formal notice to Hungary for its new law on foreign-funded NGO (non-governmental organisations) adopted on 13 June," a commission statement said.
