Beijing - Arab Today

China will raise defence spending by "around seven percent" this year, a top official said Saturday, just days after US President Donald Trump outlined plans to raise American military expenditures by 10 percent.

China has been steadily building up and modernising its once-backward armed forces over the decades as it seeks greater global power to match its economic might and, more recently, assert its disputed territorial claims in regional waters.
