Abu Dhabi - Arab Today

Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary-General of the Office of H.H. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, has inaugurated the fifth Forum to Exchange Knowledge and Innovative Ideas at the Forensic Evidence Hall at Abu Dhabi Police, ADP, General Headquarters.

The Abu Dhabi Police showcased the optimal use of modern technologies and state-of-the-art systems used to improve police operations, in the light of the implementation of ICT policies. The topic was tackled in the work paper submitted by Leslie Ding, Director of Electronic Systems at London's Metropolitan Police.

The Secretary-General stressed the keenness of the police to keep pace with modern technologies, and to avail of the latest technological developments for the sake of advancing police and security work, in coordination with the concerned authorities.

He said, "This forum embodies the vision of the Abu Dhabi Police, which aims to ensure that the Emirate of Abu Dhabi remains a safe and secure society through the provision of high-quality police services for citizens, residents, and visitors."

"These forums represent the perfect opportunity to discuss and review the most distinguished experiences, and to ultimately further develop knowledge through this exchange," he continued.

Leslie Ding gave a presentation showcasing the technologies used in the fields of research and innovation, to prove professional capabilities, develop specialised systems, make good use of existing technologies and reinforce them with new ideas, in order to attain new and efficient methods for the benefit of field operations. He also highlighted the proper ways to learn from successes and failures, and how to encourage innovative ideas when dealing with technological hazards.

Owen Wyatt, Assistant Director of Electronic Systems at the Metropolitan Police, stressed that innovation begins from within any organisation, and in cooperation with partners and suppliers.

He said, "Innovation not only exists within the department, it is also demonstrated every time we show competence and support innovation, and whenever there is a factor that affects work such as crime, cost and public confidence. Innovation leads to improvement." Towards the end of the forum, both lecturers received a commemorative shield.
