London - Arabstoday

Celebrities are taking to Twitter to voice their concern, and in one case support,  for the London riots. Teenage heartthrob Justin Bieber called on his fans to once again use the power of prayer to get them through. On his Twitter page he wrote: "been out of the loop all day. to all the people of the UK I hope you are ok." But British singer and rapper M.I.A. has been criticised for posting a tweet in support of rioters: ‘I'm going down to the riots to hand out tea and Mars Bars,' she tweeted. She later took down the tweet and posted a message saying her own family members had fallen victim to the riots. Reality star Kelly Osbourne tweeted she was trying to phone her friends for three hours on Monday (August 8) night: "spent the last 3 hours trying to get hold of all my friends in london finally the last one texted me back & is home safe. i need a nap!" But many stars reflected the mood of most of London residents, that they were outraged at what was taking place in their own city. British singer Jessie J wrote numerous tweets expressing her dismay, amongst them: "This is NOT how to gain respect. This is NOT how to get justice. This is NOT how to gain peace." Actor/writer Simon Pegg of "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz" fame wrote: "I've lived in London for 18 years and never seen anything like it. Truly disturbing. Nice of Cameron to come back to the Con/Dem Nation." It was a play on words referring to British prime minister David Cameron of the Conservative party and his political alliance with the Liberal Democrats.
