Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe
Tehran - Arab Today

A British-Iranian woman sentenced to five years in jail in Iran on charges relating to national security, bemoaned her separation from her two-year-old daughter, who is stranded in Iran with her grandparents.

In a letter to her husband Richard Ratcliffe in London, Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, a project manager with Thomson Reuters Foundation, holds Iran responsible for depriving her from seeing her daughter Ghiso.

“It has been a year now since our last meeting before heading to Iran. I’ve accompanied Ghiso for a two weeks’ vacation to spend Nowroz holidays with my family in Tehran,” she wrote.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards arrested Zaghari at the airport while she was about to return to the UK, accusing her of plotting to overthrow the Iranian regime.

"It is agonizing to miss watching our daughter growing, she is thriving and conscious of deprivation from parents living apart from each other: the father in London, and a mother confined in a cell”, added Zaghari who spending her jail sentence at the notorious Evin women’s prison in Tehran.

“We are subjected to injustice beyond description, we have gone through extremely hard time, being kept apart but our love is growing stronger,” she wrote.

Last month, Human Rights Defenders organization accused authorities at Evin prison of ignoring doctors’ recommendation to transfer Zaghari, who suffers from neck and backaches, to hospital.
