The United Arab Emirates will participate in Web Summit, the largest tech conference in the world, in Lisbon, Portugal, from 6th to 9th November with the attendance of nearly 60,000 delegates and 15,000 companies from 160 countries.

Abdullah Al Saleh, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Economy for Foreign Trade, will lead the UAE delegation, which includes representatives from the federal and local departments as well as a group of entrepreneurs and innovators.

In this regard, Mohammed Nasser Al Zaabi, Director of Trade Promotion at the ministry, chaired a meeting to review the visit programme of the UAE delegation participating in the three-day world tech event.

Organised by the ministry in partnership with the SME's Council, the visit aims to encourage the SME sector to gain best international practices so that it can contribute to the economic development of the country.

The world's leading companies also exhibit at the Web Summit.

More than 1,200 speakers will address the conference, which has become a platform not just for large companies, but for emerging companies as well.

Web Summit is a technology conference held annually since 2009. The topic of the conference is centred on Internet technology and attendees range from Fortune 500 to smaller tech companies. This contains a mix of CEOs and founders of tech start-ups together with a range of people from across the global technology industry, as well as related industries.
