Sharjah Executive Council
Sharjah - Arab Today

The Sharjah Executive Council (SEC) has issued Resolution No. 12 for year 2016 on the collection of an AED35 departure fee at the Sharjah International Airport for the use of airport facilities and services.

Referred to as the airport facilities' fee, it has to be paid by all passengers, including transit passengers who leave the Emirate of Sharjah through the airport. Meanwhile, passengers under the age of two, aircraft crews on duty, and transit passengers who have the same number of arrival and departure flights, will be exempted.

The decision was taken during the SEC session chaired by H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council.

The session also discussed a number of important issues regarding delivery of services in the emirate to citizens and residents alike, as well as review the progress of a number of residential and infrastructure development projects.

After the ratification of the minutes of previous meeting, the council endorsed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) involving the Sharjah International Airport Authority, the General Command of Sharjah Police and the Sharjah Seaports and Customs Department, on the security measures implemented at the shipping centre of the Sharjah International Airport.

The MoU is part of the effort to activate government integration through government departments and agencies in the emirate of Sharjah to provide the best services for travellers and transport companies and freight.

The SEC discussed the comprehensive study of light signals of the Emirate of Sharjah, focussing on the traffic control system and assessing it and providing development proposals to submit to H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

It also approved the memo from the Sharjah Consultative Council to discuss the policies of the Department of Housing, the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority, the Roads and Transport Authority and the General Command of the Sharjah Police.

The SEC was also briefed on a number of administrative decisions.
