Ryamizard Ryacudu
Jakarta - Arab Today

Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu said he had not received any report about plot against the government related to planned rally on Dec. 2 by Islamic organizations demanding the arrest of Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) for alleged blasphemy.

"I heard nothing about that. My intelligence did not hear that," Ryamizard said here on Tuesday.

Plotting against the government is against the law, he said, adding, anyone has to abide by the law and avoid being involved in action creating disorder.

"No one is allowed plotting against the government. The defense ministry would be ready to deal with such move," he said.

So far he said he received no information about any plot against the government behind the planned rally on Dec. 2.

On Monday police chief Gen. Tito Karnavian spokes about possible plot to topple the government behind the planned rally on Nov. 25 or Dec. 2.

Police spokesman Sr Com Rikwanto said the statement of the police chief was based on internal police analysis.

"The information is based on police analysis. We could not give information about when and who. It was internal analysis," Rikwanto said on Tuesday.

Meanwhile Jakarta police chief Ins.Gen. M Iriawan issued a statement that planned rally on Nov 25 or Dec. 2 must not lead to action against the government.

Iriawan warned the leaders of the rally that there are regulation to be followed in staging demonstration.

Police have said it was strictly not allowed to perform mass Friday prayer in Jakartas main thoroughfares of Jalan Sudirman and Jalan Thamrin.

The Islam Defender Front that organizes the planned rally said the mass Friday prayers would be held on Nov 25 or Dec 2 at Jalan Sudirman and Jalan Thamrin before launching the demonstration.

"Go ahead performing Friday prayers at the Istiglal Mosque, Banteng Square and Monas square, but not at Jalan Thamrin, HI circle and Jalan Sudirman. It is strictly not allowed," Tito said on Monday.
