Former Slovak finance minister rejects offer to be member of Ukrainian government
Former Slovak finance minister Ivan Miklos
Brayislava - Arab Today
Former Slovak finance minister Ivan Miklos turned down an offer to become Ukrainian deputy prime minister and finance minister on Tuesday, according to a press announcement from the former minister.
"The reason for my decision was that if I had accepted this offer, I would have lost my Slovak citizenship. This is just as sensitive a matter for me as it is for Ukraine to have a minister of non-Ukrainian citizenship," Miklos explained on Tuesday.
After Miklos rejected the offer, Ukrainian Parliamentary Chairman Volodymyr Groysman offered him another post as leader of a team of advisors should he become the new Ukrainian prime minister. Miklos accepted.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk resigned from his post on Sunday and expressed his support for Groysman.
