Jeddah - Arab News

Assistant Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment of Australia, Keith Pitt made a visit to a LuLu Saudi Hypermarket outlet in Riyadh on Sept. 25.
The minister was accompanied by Ralph King, Australian ambassador to Saudi Arabia, and business delegates from Australia. Pitt was briefed about various sections of the hypermarket, including products from Australia. The minister was impressed with the variety of products available at LuLu, especially Australian products.
Pitt said the delegation of Australian companies, which focuses on the mining, equipment, technology and services sectors, follows a visit by the Australian Minister of Trade, Tourism and Investment, Steven Ciobo, in April to Riyadh and Abu Dhabi.
He said that during his stay in Riyadh, he met with senior government leaders and representatives from business communities. “Saudi Arabia, a fellow G-20 economy, is an important trading partner, with two-way trade worth $2.4 billion Australian dollars ($1.78 billion) in 2016,” Pitt said. He pledged increased cooperation with the Kingdom within the framework of Saudi Vision 2030.
The minister said the Gulf region is also an important source of foreign direct investment in Australia, and he would advocate for the resumption of free trade agreement negotiations with the GCC to further boost ties in both trade and investment.
