The Muharraq-based Bahrain Fishermen’ Society hosted a series of lectures on pearling in Bahrain.
The Supreme Council fir the Environment (SCE) organized two-day programme on August 14 and 15 under the theme “sustainable pearling methods”.
The Executive Committee, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier, had unveiled plans to revive pearling industry in Bahrain.
A batch of 205 participants attended the lectures which focused on bad pearling methods which can leave their toll on the wildlife.
Attendance of the lectures is a prerequisite for participants to qualify for the pearling licences
