Kabul - BNA

At least two NATO soldiers were killed following an insider attack in western Afghanistan on Saturday.
NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) announced in statement "Two International Security Assistance Force service members were killed when an Afghan National Army soldier turned his weapon against ISAF service members in western Afghanistan today.

The incident is currently under investigation."

The statement did not disclose further information regarding the exact location of the incident and nationalities of the deceased soldiers, according to Afghan (Khaama Press).

This comes as five American soldiers were killed following a roadside bomb explosion in Maiwand district of southern Kandahar province on Saturday. Later, the coalition reported that an International Security Assistance Force service member died following an insurgent attack in northern Afghanistan.

The renewed violence came as Taliban group on Saturday announced to launch its summer offensive against the coalition and Afghan security forces.

Taliban named this year's summer offensive "Khalid bin Walid" operation and vowed to carry out insider attacks in military bases and target other diplomatic institutions across the country.
