Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Qabil
Cairo - MENA

Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Qabil stressed on Monday that the government is determined to go ahead with economic reforms and will take all necessary steps to achieve its goals.

Despite big challenges, the government will continue its economic reform program, Qabil said in his word at a conference organized by the US Chamber of Commerce in Cairo on the Egyptian economic program.

The government seeks to foster cooperation with businessmen and the private sector and boost all initiatives aiming at ironing out hurdles blocking investors, he said.

He called on the US companies to benefit from the Egyptian economic reform program which mainly aims at serving the national economy and the interests of investors.

He added that the economic reforms include a new mechanism for issuing industrial permits, restructuring many bodies affiliated with the Trade and Industry Ministry, developing the Industrial Development Authority and setting up a unified body for small and medium-sized enterprises.

All these measures are meant to overcome bureaucracy and attract more investors to the Egyptian market, he added.
