Turkish Minister of Food, Agriculture and Animal Breeding Mehdi Eker has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in regards to food safety with Zhi Shuping, Minister of China's General Administration of Quality Supervision. Eker gathered with journalists at the Turkish Embassy in Beijing on Friday. Eker stated that signing of memorandum of understanding in regards to food safety was very important for Turkey to export agricultural raw materials and food industrial commodities to China. Mentioning that food products from Turkey couldn't directly enter the Chinese market, Eker stated the memorandum of understanding paved the way for Turkey to export more agricultural and food products to China. Fresh fruits and vegetables, pistachio, poultry and dairy products were prioritized products for exporting, Eker said. "We aim to accelerate the work in this field. We have the potential to multiply Turkey's agricultural product exports to China worth $70 million currently," Eker said. Eker also stated they have signed and agreement in regards to plant health and invited Zhi Shuping and the related personnel to Turkey. -North Africa and China opening doors to Turkish food products- Furhermore, Turkish Minister Eker said that Turkey would soon begin exporting milk and milk products to Algeria as part of an agreement signed with the north African country. Speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA) Eker underlined that Turkey would be able to export all food products needed by China. China wishes to purchase more food and agricultural products from Turkey, Eker also said.
