Beijing - XINHUA

Train services in south China's Guangzhou City, which had been suspended since Saturday due to landslides and downpours, partially resumed on Monday. At 11:32 a.m., a train with 396 passengers aboard from Beijing arrived in Guangzhou, after being delayed for three days as landslides blocked the railway artery. Earlier, a long-distance passenger train "K222" left Guangzhou Railway Station for Taizhou City, eastern Jiangsu Province at 9:15 a.m.. Sixteen long-distance trains are expected to leave Guangzhou on Monday, according to the Guangzhou Railway Corporation. But schedules may be disrupted. All bullet trains between Guangzhou to Shenzhen resumed on Monday. But some trains remain suspended at the station. Trains which have resumed operation have to run at limited speeds in the section which has just reopened. The Beijing-Guangzhou Railway's section in Guangdong Province reopened at 4:36 p.m. Sunday after 20 hours of repairs. Floods triggered by continuous downpours since Friday have left at least 22 people dead and eight missing in Guangdong, with more than 820,000 people evacuated and over six million people affected as of Monday morning, according to Guangdong's civil affairs department.
