King Abdallah of Saudi Arabia has ordered $50 million in aid for the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, Saudi reports said. International attention has been drawn to violence in Myanmar -- stemming from riots in June in the country's western Rakhine state -- that has resulted in the displacement of thousands of minority Rohingya Muslims. The vilolence included the rape and slaying of a woman, authorities said. Last week, the United States urged Bangladeshi authorities not to block groups providing humanitarian aid to Rohingya refugees residing in Bangladesh. Bangladeshi authorities had said they did not want the humanitarian work to encourage more Rohingya people to cross into Bangladesh.
