The Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Iran signed on Wednesday three agreements on the construction of a gas pipeline, labor and employment and vocational training. The pipeline across the Sea of Oman will supply Oman with Iranian natural gas; it was signed by Omani Minister of Oil Dr. Mohammad Al-Romhi and his Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zangeneh during the visit to Oman by Iranian President Dr. Hassan Rohani. It constitutes an new starting point in the economic ties between the two countries, Al-Romhi told reporters here, voicing joy for the visit of the Iranian President. The Omani Minister of Manpower and Iranian Minister of Cooperative, Labor and Social Welfare Ali Rabiei singed a memorandum of understanding on labor, employment and promotion of technical and vocational education. The MoU will pave the way for cooperation in the fields of labor market and capacity building. Under the agreement, the two sides will share information on labor market and employment, organize educational courses with the aim of promoting manpower productivity. It also prepares the grounds for exchanges among academics of the two countries and joint drawing up of educational programs. Rouhani arrived here this morning leading a senior level delegation on his first visit to an Arab countries since he took office in last August.
