A company suspected of importing a consignment of rotten frozen Australian meat has been referred to the Public Prosecution for legal action. Bahrain Livestock Company has imported the five-ton consignment today (March 30, 2013), the Ministry of Municipalities and Urban Planning said today. Competent health and veterinary control authorities ordered the quantity, which included 267 carcasses, to be denied entry and destroyed, being dangerous for human consumption. "This is not the first time Bahrain Livestock Company imports rotten frozen meat", Undersecretary for Agricultural Affairs and Marine Resources Shaikh Khalifa bin Isa Al-Khalifa said. Quarantine Directorate and Veterinary Control Authorities referred the company to the Public Prosecution for violators to be held accountable.
