Following the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister, Dr. Hassan Fakhro Minister of Industry and Commerce is currently visiting Thailand with an accompanying delegation of top Bahraini businessmen, especially the members of the Bahrain-Thailand Business Council, upon the kind invitation extended by HE the Minister of Commerce in Thailand. In the framework of the official visit by the Bahraini economic delegation to Thailand, Industry and Commerce Minister Dr. Hassan Fakhro met Thailand Minister of Industry Mr. Prasert Boonchaisuk. In attendance were Dr. Essam Fakhro Chairman of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Bahrain’s Ambassador to Thailand Mr. Adel Yousif Sater, and members of the official delegation accompanying the Minister of Industry and Commerce. During the meeting, Dr. Hassan Fakhro stressed the historical and strong relationship between Bahrain and Thailand and role played by both leaderships, noting in this regard the visit of his Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in April 2012 and the visit of the Prime Minister in May 2012 and the visit of Thai Prime Minister to Bahrain in the same year, in addition to a number of high-level visits made by both sides which contributed in enhancing Bahrain-Thai Industrial Cooperation. He praised in this context the efforts made by the leadership and government of the two countries to enhance economic cooperation mechanisms. Those visits crowned in many agreements and understandings that contributed to enhance and achieve common goals. The Minister of Industry and Commerce stressed on the importance of continuing to support the directions carried out by the private sector and investors from both countries to institute their ambitions with the establishment of joint projects that are at the end to benefit the peoples of the two countries. Both sides discussed many issues of importance and mutual interest, especially the results and the implementation steps of what was agreed during the recent official visits by the leadership and governments of both countries, and the many facilities offered by the governments of both countries for investors to do projects that serve the people of the two friendly countries. Both sides also talked about topics related to building materials projects. The Minister of Industry and Trade indicated the Kingdom of Bahrain aspiration to the possibility that the Thai side to consider the possibility of exporting to Bahrain so that they can take advantage of the large tankers that can supply cement to Bahrain to take their needs from the region of various commodities needed by Thailand so as to reduce the cost of transporting cement from Thailand. The Minister also reviewed the possibilities offered by the Kingdom of Bahrain to investors and industrial and commercial projects at all levels especially in light of attractive environment and strategic location characteristic to Bahrain which qualifies it to embrace large-scale projects and to be a link between East and West with a mention here to the new proposed economic-industrial city which Bahrain looks forward to create it in the future and the many features which would be made available to investors. He also stressed the Government's support for small and medium industries which is today a major anchor of the advanced economies.
