The DPRK and South Korea have resumed on Monday the operation of the Kaesong joint industrial complex after long negotiations. The final agreement was reached on a working meeting on September 10-11. On Monday, North Korean workers began to come to Kaesong, which had not worked since April of the current year. South Korean companies have received a permission from the DPRK authorities to resume the work fully. The Kaesong industrial complex was suspended on April 9, 2013. All previous rounds of talks over the future of Kaesong were futile. The complex, which is considered to be a symbol of reconciliation, offered facilities to over 100 South Korean companies. The complex employed over 800 citizens of the Republic of Korea and about 53,000 North Koreans, who were involved in sewing, watch and electronic appliances’ assembly.
