Chinese President Hu Jintao held talks on Tuesday with Egyptian President Dr. Mohamed Morsi at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Morsi is currently on a three-day visit to China. The two leaders discussed bilateral relations and the scope for increasing cooperation in different fields in the near future. They particularly focussed on discussing cooperation in the economic and trade fields, in addition to discussing the possibility of attracting Chinese investments to Egypt. They also discussed the crisis in Syria. Essam Al Erian, the current President of Morsi's Freedom and Justice Party, said that the Egyptian President will try to pressure the Chinese administration in order to end their support to Al Assad's regime in Syria. The two presidents will oversee the signing of a number of economic agreements later on today. Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi arrived in Beijing Tuesday afternoon, kicking off his three-day state visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Hu Jintao aiming to forge closer ties with Beijing and revive his country's stagnant economy. This is Morsi's first visit to China since he took office in June.
