The benchmark DAX index at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Wednesday increased slightly higher by 0.10 percent and closed at 9930.33 points.
Investors are holding back and waiting for the results of Federal Reserve's interest rate-setting meeting which will come out in the evening Wednesday, analysts said here.
RWE AG St, E.ON SE, Infineon Technologies AG, K+S Aktiengesellschaft and Deutsche Lufthansa AG became the top five risers of the day, up by 3.07 percent, 1.32 percent, 1.22 percent, 0.92 percent and 0.85 percent respectively.
Fresenius Medical Care AG & Co. dropped the most by 1.71 percent, followed by Fresenius SE & Co. KGaA, Beiersdorf Aktiengesellschaft, adidas AG and Commerzbank AG suffering losses of 1.36 percent, 0.95 percent, 0.78 percent and 0.52 percent respectively.
